Artifacts
Museums have many artifacts and art works on display, and even more such items in storage at any point in time. It is critical to control custody and location of these precious items, as many are irreplaceable. Most museums track items manually, whereas bar coding is also in use within the Museum industry.
Museum curators do not like assets to be handled in order to perform an inventory, making from-a-distance RFID technology ideal for auditing items on display and items in storage. Further, if an item is not located where the computer shows it as being located, a portable scanner can be utilized to find the missing item. RFID antennas can also be placed at entrance/exits and at strategic travel choke points to track items In and Out of storage and throughout facilities.
RFID is the state-of-the-art in museum art and artifact tracking, and will sweep the industry over coming years.
